Desperate Escape v0.1.1-Beta Patch Notes
Desperate Escape » Devlog
Hello everyone!
We have released an update for Desperate Escape. Below are the changes you will find compared to our last build.
We also welcome some feedback for this build as well. Remember that the final build is due April 27!
Keep your weapons between levels now!
You can now bring your weapons with you to the next level! The player character is now less clumsy about losing his weapons between rooms. After all, how does a military veteran lose his weapons when travelling through dangerous areas?
The game will keep track of the amount of ammo you had when you clear a level. Should you need to restart the next level, you will now start with the amount of ammo you had when you cleared the last level.
You can play Desperate Escape here.
Main Menu
- Added text to the bottom-left corner of the game window displaying the game’s current version.
- The “How-to-Play” section has been updated to reflect the changes to melee mechanics and silenced bullets.
- Updated the “Controls” section under “How-to-Play” to include aiming with the mouse.
Cutscenes
- Reduced the amount of time each block of text will be displayed to 3 seconds, down from 10.
- Some text in the intro cutscene has been cut.
- The “Skip Cutscene” prompt is visible for the first 5 seconds. You can bring that prompt up again by pressing “Escape” if you missed it.
Gameplay
- Camera has been somewhat zoomed out for each level, making it easier for players to further view their surroundings.
- Controller support has been removed.
- Player
- The player will now begin a new game with max health.
- The game will keep track of the amount of current health he/she has, carrying over to the next level, with a minimum 3 hearts.
- The player’s gun is no longer part of its collider. The sprite remains the same.
- Terrorists
- Terrorists can collide with each other and the player. It felt unnatural for them to stack on each other.
- Players can now melee terrorists when they are in chase mode. However the amount of damage done is reduced.
- Meleeing a terrorist who is in patrol mode now instantly kills him.
- All terrorists will now chase the player if they hear the player fire a loud bullet.
- The terrorist’s gun is no longer part of its collider. The sprite remains the same.
- Weapons
- Pistol
- Drop rate for pistol ammo increased significantly.
- A pistol is guaranteed to drop if the player has not collected weapons and if there are currently no weapon drops.
- Increased the amount of silenced shots to 10, up from 5.
- Grenade
- Drop rate for grenades reduced significantly.
- Reduced the time it takes to explode to 3 seconds, down from 5.
- Thrown grenades now decelerate faster.
- Increased effective explosion radius slightly. The explosion animation is unchanged.
- Pistol
